Royal Air Maroc expands domestic flights, strengthens links to southern provinces
Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has announced an ambitious expansion of its domestic flight network, enhancing connectivity to Morocco’s southern provinces and supporting regional development. The new routes are part of a partnership with the regions of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra, and Guelmin-Oued Noun.
This initiative aligns with RAM’s strategy to better serve citizens and promote economic growth across Moroccan regions. The airline revealed in a press release that it has significantly increased air services to the southern provinces since 2005, growing from six weekly flights to 63.
Hamid Addou, CEO of Royal Air Maroc, highlighted the alignment of this strategy with King Mohammed VI’s vision and directives. “By reinforcing our presence in the south, we aim to connect regions more effectively, enhance mobility, and support territorial dynamism,” Addou said. He added that the new routes reflect the company’s commitment to fostering social, familial, and economic vitality across Morocco.
The expansion includes several new domestic routes, such as flights between Marrakech and Laayoune, which began this month. These flights operate twice weekly, on Wednesdays and Fridays, with departures from Laayoune at 4 p.m. and arrivals in Marrakech at 5:20 p.m. Return flights leave Marrakech at 6:10 p.m., arriving in Laayoune at 7:40 p.m., with one-way tickets priced at MAD 750 ($75).
Similarly, new routes connect Dakhla and Marrakech every Monday and Thursday. Flights depart Dakhla at 3 p.m., arriving in Marrakech at 4:55 p.m., with return flights scheduled at 5:45 p.m. One-way tickets for this route are priced at MAD 800 ($80).
Other key connections include flights between Rabat and Laayoune, which operate three times a week on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, as well as the Rabat-Dakhla route, served on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Casablanca and Laayoune are now connected by 15 weekly flights, including a new Sunday service. Additionally, five weekly flights link Casablanca and Guelmin, while Casablanca and Tan Tan now feature three direct flights per week, independent of the Guelmin route.
In a special highlight, RAM will inaugurate a new direct route between Casablanca and Es-Smara on November 6, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the Green March. This route will operate twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays.
The airline’s ongoing efforts demonstrate its dedication to connecting Morocco’s regions, fostering mobility, and supporting territorial and economic development in the southern provinces.
