A Russian drone strike targeted the train station in Chostka, located in Ukraine’s northeastern Sumy region, injuring at least 30 people, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported Saturday. He described the attack as “barbaric” and warned that the casualty figures could rise.

The strike affected passengers and railway employees, leaving a train car deformed, burned, and with twisted metal and shattered glass. The incident occurred approximately 50 kilometers from the Russian border. Zelensky emphasized that Russian forces “could not have ignored that they were hitting civilians.”

Meanwhile, separate overnight Russian attacks cut electricity to around 50,000 homes in the Chernihiv region. Ukraine also reported striking a major oil refinery in Russia’s northwestern Leningrad region, describing it as part of a long-range drone retaliation campaign against Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities and energy infrastructure.
