Saudi Arabia to celebrate Eid Al Fitr on March 30
According to a report from Arab Times Online, the Al Ojairi Scientific Center anticipates that Eid Al Fitr will be celebrated on March 30 in Saudi Arabia. This date marks the conclusion of Ramadan, heralding the arrival of Shawaal, the tenth month in the Islamic calendar.
It is important to note that these astronomical calculations are preliminary; the final announcements will depend on religious committees in Saudi Arabia and other Muslim nations, which will be tasked with sighting the crescent moon in the forthcoming weeks.
Preparations for Eid Al Fitr are already underway in Saudi Arabia. The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has declared a four-day holiday in observance of the holiday. Grazia Magazine reported that, given that Saudi Arabia's weekends fall on Friday and Saturday, citizens will enjoy an extended six-day break.
In related news, predictions indicate that other countries, such as Australia and Morocco, may celebrate Eid Al Fitr on March 31, as they expect to sight the crescent moon shortly after Saudi Arabia.
Eid Al Fitr is characterized by morning prayers attended by citizens at mosques, where they perform a two rak’at prayer followed by six additional takbirs, which means "Allahu Akbar" in Arabic. After prayers, families traditionally gather for a festive breakfast, marking the end of a month of fasting. The holiday also fosters a spirit of family visits and communal exchanges, a cherished tradition across the Arab world.
Saudi Arabia began fasting for Ramadan on March 1 this year, in alignment with the UAE and Qatar, while other nations like Morocco commenced their observance a day later on March 2.
