Sébastien Lecornu concludes his visit to Morocco amid a renewed partnership with France

The official visit of French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu to Morocco concluded on Thursday in Rabat, following a significant diplomatic sequence marked by the holding of the 15th High-Level Meeting (HLM) Morocco-France. This trip, aimed at strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries, led to a new phase in bilateral cooperation through the signing of several agreements covering priority sectors.

A visit focused on enhancing cooperation

During his stay, Sébastien Lecornu co-chaired the proceedings of the 15th High-Level Meeting with the Moroccan Prime Minister, Aziz Akhannouch. This meeting is part of the dynamic of the exceptional partnership strengthened by His Majesty King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron, with the ambition to give a new impetus to relations between Rabat and Paris.

The discussions covered several strategic issues, ranging from economic cooperation to infrastructure, including transportation, culture, research, defense, and public services.

An official departure from Rabat-Salé

At the end of this visit, the French Prime Minister departed the Kingdom from Rabat-Salé airport, where he was seen off by the Prime Minister, Aziz Akhannouch.

Before his departure, Sébastien Lecornu reviewed a detachment from the first air base of the Royal Air Forces, in accordance with the official protocol reserved for high-level visits.

The ceremony took place in the presence of several Moroccan officials, including the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdessamad Kayouh, as well as the Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament and government spokesperson, Mustapha Baitas.

A high-level meeting crowned by several agreements

The 15th Morocco-France High-Level Meeting was one of the main highlights of this official visit. It concluded with the signing of several cooperation agreements aimed at deepening relations between the two countries in strategic areas.

These commitments reflect the mutual willingness to transform the political orientations defined at the highest level into concrete projects, while strengthening the mechanisms for dialogue between Moroccan and French administrations.

A new phase in Moroccan-French relations

Sébastien Lecornu's visit comes in a context of diplomatic rapprochement marked by an intensification of institutional exchanges between Rabat and Paris since President Emmanuel Macron's state visit to Morocco in 2024.

The increase in high-level meetings and the conclusion of new agreements illustrate the desire of both partners to build sustainable cooperation based on common interests and a shared vision of major regional and international challenges.

This diplomatic sequence thus confirms the willingness of Morocco and France to continue deepening their strategic partnership through concrete initiatives and enhanced political dialogue.
