Suspect arrested in Lebanon over alleged sexual assault of a child
Lebanese security forces announced the arrest of a man suspected of sexually assaulting a child in the Nabaa district, a suburb on the outskirts of Beirut. The Internal Security Forces (ISF) reported Tuesday that the suspect, identified as a Syrian national, was taken into custody following a prompt investigation.
According to the official ISF statement, the seven-year-old victim was taken to the hospital shortly after the incident. A medical examination confirmed that the child had been sexually assaulted.
Following the alert, specialized ISF units conducted a field investigation, which quickly led to the identification and arrest of the alleged perpetrator. During questioning, the suspect reportedly confessed to the charges, and legal proceedings were immediately initiated under the supervision of a competent judicial authority.
The ISF used the occasion to urge parents and guardians to remain vigilant, emphasizing the importance of observing behavioral changes in children. The statement also advised open communication, avoiding blame, and not concealing incidents of abuse.
This case has reignited public concern in Lebanon regarding child safety and the need for stronger mechanisms of protection against abuse, especially in vulnerable communities.
