Thousands rally in Madrid to demand resignation of Pedro Sánchez

In a powerful display of public sentiment, the Plataforma por la España Constitucional organized a significant demonstration in Madrid’s Plaza de Colón today, calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. This coalition, comprising numerous civil entities, seeks to address what they describe as the "degradation of public services" and the broader decline attributed to Sánchez's government.

According to government estimates, approximately 25,000 participants attended the rally, although organizers claim the number is substantially higher. The event underscores a growing discontent among various sectors of Spanish society regarding the current administration.

The gathering was marked by a manifesto, read by Fernando García-Capelo, a lawyer from the Foro Libertad y Alternativa. The document articulates the coalition's concerns about what they perceive as an "unacceptable deterioration of democracy and politics" under the coalition government formed by the PSOE and Sumar.

The manifesto outlines several key grievances, highlighting actions taken by Sánchez's cabinet that they believe contribute to a "constitutional deconstruction." It states, "There is no level of institutions that remains unaffected by the succession of constitutional violations, scandals, manipulations, nepotism, and abuses of power, which are severely damaging our country and degrading our coexistence." In addition to calling for Sánchez's resignation, the manifesto enumerates five principal initiatives of the current administration that the coalition opposes.
