Three dead, Including children, as truck overturns in Afghanistan
At least three people were killed and five others injured, including children, after a truck overturned in eastern Afghanistan, local authorities confirmed on Sunday.
The tragic incident occurred in Laghman Province, when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle on a sharp bend due to mechanical failure. Eyewitnesses said the truck, carrying construction materials, veered off the road before overturning.
Emergency teams and local residents rushed to the scene to assist victims. According to officials, two children and a woman were among the injured, who were later taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Local police have launched an investigation into the crash, which is believed to have been caused by faulty brakes. Authorities have urged transport companies to inspect vehicles regularly to prevent similar tragedies.
Road accidents are frequent in Afghanistan, where poor infrastructure, overloaded vehicles, and limited enforcement of traffic laws contribute to a high number of fatalities each year.
