Tourism: Senegalese newspaper praises Morocco as a top destination
The Senegalese daily Le Soleil has recently published an article highlighting Morocco as one of Africa’s leading tourist destinations. The newspaper praised the Kingdom’s hospitality, its renowned gastronomy, and the remarkable diversity of its landscapes.
In its feature titled “Hospitality, gastronomy and landscapes: Morocco, a land of charm”, the outlet underscored the success of Morocco’s tourism strategy, marked by a record 17.4 million international visitors in 2024.
According to Le Soleil, several factors explain this achievement: strong air connectivity with regular and affordable flights, a wide range of accommodations combining traditional Riads and modern hotels, as well as Morocco’s reputation as a welcoming and safe destination.
The daily also showcased emblematic attractions such as the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, the medina of Fez, the blue city of Chefchaouen, the Merzouga desert, the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, and coastal resorts like Taghazout and Saïdia. These sites, the paper noted, reflect Morocco’s cultural and geographical wealth.
Moroccan gastronomy was equally highlighted, with traditional dishes such as tagine, couscous, and mint tea standing out as symbols of the country’s culinary identity and hospitality.
Finally, Le Soleil emphasized Morocco’s cultural vitality, illustrated by major international events like the Gnaoua World Music Festival in Essaouira, the Fes Festival of Sacred Music, Mawazine in Rabat, Jazzablanca, Tanjazz, Timitar in Agadir, and the Cherry Festival in Sefrou.
With this combination of attractions, Morocco continues to consolidate its position as a prime tourism hub in Africa, offering visitors an authentic and diversified experience.
