US President Donald Trump has unveiled plans for the "Patriot Games," a youth athletic competition to mark the United States’ 250th anniversary in 2026. The event will take place in Washington D.C. and will feature one male and one female student athlete from each state and territory.

According to Trump, the four-day competition will showcase top high school talent from across the country. He emphasized that the games will follow gender-specific guidelines in line with existing policies for school sports.

The announcement was made as part of a broader preview of the year-long 250th anniversary celebrations. Other planned events include a large state fair on the National Mall, an extensive fireworks display, the creation of a “National Garden of American Heroes” featuring statues of notable Americans, and a ceremonial triumphal arch.

Trump also highlighted plans for a high-profile UFC fight during the celebrations, hosted by UFC CEO Dana White, which will include multiple championship bouts in front of a live audience. The president described the Patriot Games as a moment to inspire a new generation and celebrate American achievement in both sports and national heritage.
