Tunisia Extends State of Emergency Until January 30, 2025
Tunisia has announced the extension of its nationwide state of emergency for an additional month, from January 1 to January 30, 2025, according to an official statement. This measure was formalized through a decree published in the official gazette of the Republic of Tunisia.
The state of emergency in Tunisia has been a recurring policy since November 24, 2015, following a tragic terrorist attack in the capital. The incident involved the explosion of a presidential guard bus, resulting in the loss of 12 security personnel and injuries to 16 others, including police officers and civilians. Since then, the state of emergency has been repeatedly extended to address persistent security concerns and to ensure stability across the country. The most recent extension covered the period from January 31 to December 31, 2024.
