Turkish stock exchange flat at weekly open
Türkiye’s main stock index began the week with little movement, opening Monday’s session at 10,898.10 points, a marginal decline of 0.01% compared to the previous close. The slight dip follows Friday’s 0.43% drop, which saw the BIST 100 halt trading at 10,898.70 points, with a transaction volume of 108 billion liras (approximately $2.55 billion).
Despite the muted start in equities, Türkiye’s currency and commodity markets remained mostly stable. As of 09:50 a.m. local time (0650 GMT), the Turkish lira traded at 42.5230 per US dollar, 49.3330 per euro, and 56.2255 per British pound.
In commodities, the price of gold stood at $4,239.60 per ounce, while Brent crude oil was trading around $63.40 per barrel, indicating steady global energy and metals markets at the start of the trading week.
