U.S. approves sale of Stinger missiles to Morocco

The U.S. Department of Defense has given the green light for the sale of 600 FIM-92K Stinger missiles to Morocco, valued at $825 million. This potential sale, which has been approved by the U.S. State Department, includes FIM-92K Stinger Block I missiles and related equipment.

The U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has informed Congress of the proposed transaction. The deal also encompasses engineering, logistical, and technical support services from the U.S. government, as well as other elements for logistical and program support.

This sale is intended to bolster the foreign policy and national security of the United States by strengthening the security of Morocco, a key non-NATO ally and an essential force in the political and economic stability of North Africa.

By acquiring this defense equipment and support services, Morocco aims to enhance its military capabilities to meet both present and future security challenges. The new equipment will support Morocco's goal of modernizing its armed forces and improving its short-range air defense systems.

Furthermore, the sale will help Morocco achieve its military modernization objectives and improve interoperability with the United States and other allied nations, ensuring that the new systems integrate seamlessly into Morocco’s armed forces.
