Ukraine orders evacuation of families with children near eastern frontline
Ukrainian authorities have ordered the mandatory evacuation of families with children from several towns near the frontline in the eastern Donetsk region, due to increasing pressure from Russian forces.
Vadym Filashkin, the governor of Donetsk, announced on Thursday that evacuations will begin in Dobropillia and nine surrounding villages, stating that approximately 928 children currently reside in these areas.
“The evacuation is necessary to ensure the safety of civilians, especially the youngest, as the situation near the front continues to deteriorate,” Filashkin said via Telegram.
Earlier that day, at least five Ukrainian civilians were reported killed in Russian strikes targeting the cities of Kostiantynivka and Kharkiv, marking yet another tragic development in the ongoing conflict.
The evacuation order comes shortly after another round of unsuccessful negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow, highlighting the persistent diplomatic deadlock.
Images from Odessa also show extensive damage caused by drone strikes, underlining the broader escalation of hostilities in various parts of Ukraine.
