Universal’s Epic Universe Theme Park Set to Debut in May 2025
Universal Studios has announced that its highly anticipated Epic Universe theme park will officially open on May 22, 2025, in Orlando, Florida. This park marks the company's fourth theme park and is part of a sprawling 750-acre development, making it the largest of Universal's properties. Epic Universe will feature five themed worlds: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, The Ministry of Magic, Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon, The Isle of Berk, Celestial Park, and Dark Universe.
Originally unveiled in 2019, Epic Universe represents the most significant investment ever made by Comcast’s NBCUniversal in its theme parks and in Florida as a whole, according to CEO Brian Roberts. Although construction faced delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic, work resumed in March 2021.
The addition of Epic Universe is expected to transform Universal Orlando Resort into a weeklong travel destination rather than just a short getaway for families. The resort already includes Volcano Bay, a water park located about a mile from the Universal Studios parks.
Karen Irwin, president and chief operating officer of Universal Orlando Resort, expressed excitement about the upcoming opening: “This is such a pivotal moment for our destination, and we’re thrilled to welcome guests to Epic Universe next year. With the addition of this spectacular new theme park, our guests will embark on an unforgettable vacation experience with a week’s worth of thrills that will be nothing short of epic.”
Epic Universe will be anchored by the Loews Hotels’ Universal Helios Grand Hotel, which will feature 500 rooms and offer a dedicated entrance for hotel guests. Starting October 22, Universal will offer multiday tickets and packages that include three-, four-, or five-day admission options to its Orlando Resort, including one-day access to Epic Universe.
Annual passholders will have the opportunity to purchase single-day tickets for Epic Universe on October 24 before they become available to the general public. Additional ticketing options are expected to be announced later.
