Vietnam's state railway company has announced the launch of a new double-decker tourist train named Hanoi 5 Gates, which will begin service on August 19. Designed to promote cultural tourism, the train offers a unique travel experience between Hanoi and the city of Từ Sơn, located in Bắc Ninh province.

Also referred to as The Hanoi Train, the ten-carriage train pays tribute to the capital’s iconic city gates, with each carriage named after one of them. It will operate three daily round trips, combining historical ambiance with modern comfort.

This initiative marks the country’s first rail service dedicated to showcasing Hanoi’s cultural heritage. The train features a blend of classic and contemporary interior design, large panoramic windows, and a glass ceiling that allows passengers to enjoy uninterrupted views of the landscape.

The project is in its final phase of preparation, though ticket sales have not yet opened. According to local media, the railway aims to complete all adjustments in time for the launch.

As of the end of July 2025, Hanoi had recorded approximately 18.36 million visitors since the beginning of the year, including over 4.2 million international tourists—a clear sign of Vietnam’s growing appeal as a travel destination.
