Morocco’s youth-driven civic movement, GenZ212, has released details on the next wave of peaceful demonstrations, planned for this weekend across several cities. The group has announced new gathering points and adjusted some protest routes, signaling efforts to streamline its growing mobilization.

In Casablanca, demonstrations will now occur in the Hay Hassani neighborhood, replacing the previously announced gathering site at Place Maréchal, which itself had substituted Place Sraghna in Derb Sultan. Agadir will also see similar changes, with all protests set to begin at 6 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

The announcement follows the group’s decision earlier this week to resume protests after a brief suspension. The demonstrations, launched nearly a month ago, aim to spotlight social and economic grievances, with participants calling for greater transparency, improved public services, and accountability in governance.

GenZ212 highlighted some progress in its statement, acknowledging government moves to expand healthcare infrastructure, increase budgets for health and education, and promote integrity in political practices. However, the group emphasized that these changes remain inadequate without clear mechanisms to combat corruption and conflicts of interest.

“Our mobilization will continue peacefully and inclusively, representing the aspirations of ordinary Moroccans,” the statement read, reaffirming the group’s commitment to nonviolence and its mission to advocate for structural reforms.

Since its inception in late September, GenZ212 has transformed from sporadic protests into a coordinated, nationwide movement. Major cities such as Rabat, Tangier, Marrakech, and Casablanca have seen thousands of demonstrators advocating for social justice, better living conditions, and systemic change.

While authorities have allowed the protests to proceed with a visible yet restrained security presence, the movement’s nonpartisan and peaceful nature has helped it gain widespread public support. This weekend’s demonstrations are expected to further consolidate GenZ212’s position as a pivotal force for civic engagement in Morocco.
