Zelensky sends reinforcements to eastern Ukraine to halt Russian advance
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Friday that additional troops will be sent to the eastern regions of the country, as Russian forces make significant gains toward the garrison town of Dobropillia.
“Today, a decision has been made to strengthen this area and other parts of the Donetsk region,” Zelensky said on Telegram, just hours before a high-level summit between the U.S. and Russian presidents aimed at discussing an end to the war.
He added that “the Russian army continues to suffer heavy losses while trying to secure better political leverage for Russian leaders ahead of the meeting in Alaska.”
