Mobile World Congress opens in Barcelona focused on AI

The Mobile World Congress (MWC) has kicked off in Barcelona, with approximately 100,000 professionals expected to attend this four-day event dedicated to the smartphone and connected services industry. Organizers highlight that this annual gathering will focus on the future of the sector, bringing together experts and leaders from around the world.

More than 2,700 exhibitors, including major global telecom companies, are presenting the latest innovations and technological advancements for the year. Additionally, over 1,200 speakers are participating in conferences and panel discussions, addressing the challenges faced by tech and telecom companies racing to innovate with AI applications.

Since the advent of ChatGPT and the rise of generative artificial intelligence, the integration of AI tools has become increasingly prominent among manufacturers, and AI is once again a central theme in the innovations showcased at this year’s MWC.

Originally launched in 2006 as an event focused on mobile devices, MWC, organized by the GSMA, has evolved into a major gathering for various industries, including fintech, transportation, and education, where connectivity plays a crucial role.

In this context, the GSMA has announced new partnerships aimed at fostering innovation and connectivity within the aerospace and automotive industries. These collaborations are designed to enhance safety, efficiency, and customer experiences, reflecting the growing importance of connectivity beyond traditional telecom sectors.
