Significant rainfall boosts water reserves in Guir-Ziz-Rheris region

The recent rainfall from April 11 to 13 has resulted in an impressive total of 24.18 million cubic meters of water collected by various dams in the Guir-Ziz-Rheris hydraulic basin, according to the Guir-Ziz-Rheris Hydraulic Basin Agency (ABHGZR).

These rains have increased the total volume stored in the large dams within the ABHGZR's operational area to over 308 million cubic meters. The agency detailed this in a report discussing the recent precipitation events.

Among the key reservoirs, the Hassan Addakhil dam now holds 215.5 million cubic meters, achieving a filling rate of 68.91%. Following this, the Kaddoussa dam contains 85.33 million cubic meters (38.09%), while the Toudgha dam holds 7.17 million cubic meters (19.64%).

According to the ABHGZR, these beneficial rains are expected to enhance groundwater levels, improve water reserves, increase spring flows, and invigorate agricultural activities in the region.

In the past 48 hours, the Drâa-Tafilalet region has experienced significant rainfall, which will positively impact water reserves and agricultural endeavors.

The General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) had issued an alert forecasting precipitation totals ranging from 40 to 70 millimeters from Friday at 15:00 to Saturday at 23:00, affecting the provinces of Ouarzazate, Tinghir, Errachidia, El Haouz, Midelt, Taroudant, and Azilal.

In response, the Ministry of Equipment, with support from local authorities, has intensified efforts to ensure smooth traffic flow and the safety of road users.
