Lesieur Cristal announces leadership shake-up to strengthen governance
Lesieur Cristal, a key player in Morocco’s agribusiness sector, has made two senior leadership changes as part of its efforts to reinforce corporate governance and drive sustainable growth.
Yasmine Tabet-Derraz has been appointed Secretary General, replacing Sophie Gavard-Benjelloun. She will sit on the Executive Committee and oversee legal affairs, compliance, governance, ethics, and external communication.
A trained lawyer and HEC Paris graduate, Tabet-Derraz brings more than 20 years of experience in sectors including telecommunications and pharmaceuticals. She previously contributed to the company’s internal governance program, “Ethika.”
Observers say her legal background and regulatory experience may help the company navigate tightening compliance demands. However, no specific governance issues were cited as reasons for her appointment.
Oussama Sabry will take over as Director of Human Resources, effective May 1, following the departure of Abdellah Dourou after four years in the role. Sabry has been with Lesieur Cristal since 2009 and led several HR transformation initiatives. He holds an MBA, a master’s in HR management, and is pursuing a doctorate in organizational psychology.
Both appointments are framed by management as part of a long-term strategy focused on performance, social responsibility, and value creation.
However, industry analysts note the timing comes as Moroccan agribusiness companies face growing regulatory, environmental, and labor pressures. Whether these leadership changes will translate into improved transparency, employee engagement, or innovation remains to be seen.
Lesieur Cristal has not disclosed any specific KPIs or governance targets tied to these appointments.
General Director Peter Tagge welcomed the new executives, calling them “key to the Group’s sustainable transformation.” He also thanked outgoing executives for their service.
