Moroccan Andalusian Music Association Unveils Cultural Season with Grand Concert
The Moroccan Andalusian Music Association (AMMA) is set to launch its 2024-2025 cultural season with a prestigious musical event that promises to be a celebration of Morocco's rich musical heritage. The inaugural concert, scheduled for September 13, 2024, at the Palais du Méchouar in Casablanca, will showcase the diverse influences that have shaped the country's musical landscape.
Under the theme "Moroccan Musical Heritage: An Odyssey of Regional Influences at the Heart of Moroccan Cultural Richness," the event is being organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication. It boasts partnerships with Casablanca Events and Animation, the territorial brand Wecasablanca, and support from the National Lottery.
The cultural extravaganza will feature the renowned Fez Andalusian Orchestra, led by the esteemed maestro Mohamed Briouel. Accompanying the orchestra will be talented vocalist and researcher Majda El Yahyaoui, along with the prodigious Chaimae Imrane. The program promises a musical journey through various Moroccan traditions, including Andalusian music, Melhoun, songs from the northern Moroccan repertoire, and Samaa.
AMMA President and Founder, Fatima Mabchour, expressed the association's commitment to preserving and celebrating Morocco's musical heritage. "By launching this new cultural season, we reaffirm our dedication to showcasing the richness of our traditional music on both national and international stages," Mabchour stated. She emphasized the importance of creating artistic experiences that reflect the grandeur and uniqueness of Moroccan culture.
Since its inception, AMMA has been dedicated to safeguarding and promoting Morocco's musical patrimony through cultural initiatives that celebrate its authenticity and diversity. Despite its relative youth, the association has successfully invigorated Casablanca's musical and cultural scene by organizing exceptional events featuring both national and international artists.
The National Lottery Management Company (SGLN) has pledged its support for the event, stating that all of its revenues are dedicated to social and solidarity actions. This commitment contributes to the development of Morocco's economic and social landscape, particularly through its support for cultural promotion.
As attendees immerse themselves in this vibrant musical experience, they will explore the rhythms and colors of Moroccan culture through its roots and derivatives. The event not only serves as a platform for cultural celebration but also as a means to export Moroccan music as a universal ambassador of the country's rich cultural tapestry.
This opening concert sets the stage for AMMA's 2024-2025 season, which aims to continue its mission of preserving, promoting, and sharing the diverse musical heritage of Morocco with both local and international audiences.
