Israeli Drone Strike Kills Six in Jenin Refugee Camp
A drone strike by Israeli forces in the Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West Bank has claimed the lives of six Palestinians, including a teenager and three siblings, according to reports.
The attack occurred Tuesday evening when an Israeli drone fired three missiles at a group near a roundabout in the camp. Among the fatalities were a 15-year-old boy and five adults aged between 23 and 34, including three brothers. Several others sustained injuries.
This incident follows a similar drone attack earlier this month in the town of Tammun in the West Bank, where two children and a young man from the same family were killed.
The latest strike comes amid intensified military operations by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank. Since October 7, 2023, nearly 800 Palestinians have been killed in the territory, accompanied by the arrest of thousands. Israel’s defense minister has affirmed the continuation of these operations.
The strike coincided with an ongoing security campaign by the Palestinian Authority (PA) targeting resistance fighters in Jenin. This campaign has reportedly led to over a dozen fatalities in recent weeks.
Anwar Rajab, a spokesperson for the PA’s security forces, stated that the strike was an attempt to undermine their efforts to restore stability in the region. However, some local leaders argue that the PA should cease its operations in Jenin and instead align with other Palestinian factions against the Israeli occupation.
“This attack underscores that every Palestinian is a potential target,” said Hassan Khraisheh, deputy speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council.
Earlier the same day, the Jenin Battalion of Palestinian Islamic Jihad announced an agreement to end internal Palestinian conflicts in the area. The group emphasized the right to resist the occupation while refraining from revealing specific terms of the accord.
