Strengthening Strategic Ties: China’s Investment Commitment to Morocco
During a dialogue organized by the Moroccan Council for Foreign Affairs on Thursday in Rabat, Li Changlin, the Chinese Ambassador to Morocco, emphasized that China views the Kingdom of Morocco as a key strategic partner and a prime destination for investment. He highlighted the growing strategic relations between the two nations.
The Chinese ambassador noted the exceptional dynamism of bilateral relations, praising the alignment of both countries’ viewpoints on major global issues and their shared support for multilateralism.
Li Changlin further explained that Morocco’s achievements in various sectors, ranging from political stability to a well-developed infrastructure conducive to investment, have made it a favored destination for Chinese capital. He pointed out that Morocco has become a significant player in industries such as automotive and textiles, reflecting China’s increasing interest in the country.
The ambassador also touched upon the noticeable rise in trade exchanges between the two countries, surpassing 7 billion USD, attributing this growth to strong partnerships that enable the exchange of expertise and the enhancement of trade cooperation.
Li Changlin recalled the recent visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Casablanca, which he described as a crucial step in strengthening and diversifying bilateral relations. The ambassador noted that this visit would inject new momentum into China-Morocco ties, not only in commerce but also in political and economic cooperation.
Regarding Africa, the ambassador emphasized the importance of the continent in the foreign policies of both Morocco and China. He pointed out that Morocco plays a key role in China’s Belt and Road Initiative, and both nations share a vision for Africa’s development, focusing on collaboration in education, youth training, and accelerating economic growth.
Furthermore, Li Changlin mentioned that both countries are eager to expand cooperation into emerging fields such as artificial intelligence and renewable energy. He emphasized the mutual desire to elevate collaboration to new heights, benefitting both nations and enhancing their bilateral relationship.
This event brought together researchers, academics, and diplomats to discuss future cooperation opportunities, underscoring the significant progress in China-Morocco relations across various domains.
