Moroccan exporters strengthen ties with Egypt through trade mission

In a significant effort to enhance trade relations, a delegation of Moroccan exporters is poised to visit Cairo this weekend. This initiative aims to explore new business opportunities and bolster the exchange of goods between Morocco and Egypt, as stated by the Moroccan Confederation of Exporters (ASMEX).

Comprising 35 business leaders, the delegation will be in the Egyptian capital from May 3 to May 5, 2025. The mission is spearheaded by Secretary of State for Foreign Trade Omar Hejira, with ASMEX President Hassan Sentissi El Idrissi at the helm, promoting "Made in Morocco" products.

"This mission is the culmination of extensive strategic planning by ASMEX, driven by determination and vision," remarked a spokesperson for the confederation.

The visit is a continuation of recent discussions with Egyptian officials. In April, the Egyptian ambassador visited ASMEX headquarters, followed by a successful “Egypt Country Zoom” event, where participants gained insights into market opportunities and strategies for entering the Egyptian market.

Business leaders and media representatives have lauded these initiatives, which exemplify ASMEX’s commitment to promoting national exports while addressing the needs of the industry.

Through its president's steadfast leadership, the confederation showcases its capacity to unite, prepare, and support companies via strategic partnerships rather than ad-hoc solutions.

ASMEX emphasized that the success of this economic mission hinges on meticulous preparation, representative participation (with a focus on exporters), and clearly defined objectives. The organization remains dedicated to supporting Moroccan exporters and reinforcing its role as a leader in the nation’s economic diplomacy.

In recent months, Morocco and Egypt have intensified their bilateral economic relations, pledging to fortify trade ties through the introduction of a new Egyptian “Fast Track” system. This initiative is designed to streamline the entry of Moroccan exports into Egyptian markets, establishing effective mechanisms to facilitate trade and ensuring a direct communication line to overcome potential obstacles between the two nations.
