Casablanca hosts over 500 architects to shape Morocco's architectural future

On June 21, the National Council of the Order of Architects convened its annual General Assembly in Casablanca, bringing together over 500 architects, including the presidents of the 13 regional councils and their elected members. The gathering served as a platform to review achievements, tackle pressing challenges, and celebrate milestones within the profession.

A platform for reflection and progress

The event showcased the National Council’s moral and financial report, detailing key activities and accomplishments from the first year of its current mandate. According to a statement from the Council, the assembly fostered meaningful discussions on pivotal issues, such as improving access to public and private architectural projects. Participants proposed practical solutions to address these concerns, reaffirming the Council's commitment to advancing the profession.

The assembly also highlighted the Council’s strong collaboration with key government bodies, including the Ministry of National Planning, Urbanism, Housing and City Policy, and the General Secretariat of the Government. These partnerships are vital for advancing strategic initiatives that benefit Moroccan architects.

Celebrating leadership and new beginnings

A notable moment during the assembly was the presentation of a recognition medal to the President of the National Council. The honor acknowledged his integrity, leadership, and dedication to the architectural profession.

Another highlight was the swearing-in ceremony for 150 newly certified architects, a requirement under Moroccan law and the Order’s internal regulations. This ceremony marked the beginning of their professional journey in shaping Morocco’s urban and architectural landscape.

A focus on innovation and collaboration

The assembly also celebrated the results of a design competition organized by the Casablanca Architects’ Club. The competition’s winning projects were evaluated by a jury of distinguished architects, including members of the Regional Council of the Center and the National Council President. The club, a pioneering initiative, will be open to all architects nationwide, encouraging greater collaboration and innovation within the profession.
