Achraf Hakimi: PSG ready to shine at FIFA Club World Cup
Achraf Hakimi, Morocco’s international football star, has expressed confidence in Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) preparation for the FIFA Club World Cup. Speaking ahead of PSG’s debut match against Atletico Madrid, the Atlas Lion emphasized the team’s strong form and determination to go far in the tournament.
Confident start to the tournament
PSG is set to face Atletico Madrid tonight at 8 p.m. in their opening game of the FIFA Club World Cup, which kicked off last night. Hakimi, reflecting on the team’s readiness, remarked, “Everything is going very well! We’re happy and hope to keep this going for a long time, hopefully a month!”
The Morocco international added that the team is in good shape and has been preparing meticulously for the tournament. “We’ve prepared well over the past few days, and we’re ready for our goal, which is to reach the final,” he stated.
Building on a historic season
Hakimi is coming off a remarkable season with PSG, during which he played a pivotal role in helping the club secure its first-ever UEFA Champions League title. PSG claimed the trophy in May with an emphatic 5-0 victory over Inter Milan, marking a historic milestone for the French club.
Individually, Hakimi earned accolades for his performances, being named the best African player in France’s Ligue 1 for the 2024–2025 season. The prestigious Marc-Vivien Foé Prize, awarded by Radio France Internationale (RFI) and France 24, highlighted his contributions to the sport.
Contributing to Morocco’s success
In addition to his achievements with PSG, Hakimi has also been active with the Moroccan national team. On June 6, he scored the decisive second goal in Morocco’s 2-0 victory over Tunisia in a friendly match. The Atlas Lions concluded their season with promising results, further solidifying Hakimi’s reputation as one of the world’s best defenders.
As PSG sets its sights on the FIFA Club World Cup, Hakimi’s form and leadership will undoubtedly be crucial to the team’s campaign. With a Champions League win under his belt and a growing list of individual honors, the Moroccan star continues to establish himself as a key figure in international football.
