Beloved Moroccan Actor "Ba Azizi" Passes Away at 83
The legendary Moroccan actor Boujamaa Oujou, widely known by his stage name "Ba Azizi," bid farewell to the world in Casablanca at the age of 83.
Oujou's illustrious career, spanning over six decades in film, television, and theater, earned him widespread popularity throughout Morocco. He initially graced the Moroccan theater scene, collaborating with acclaimed actors and artists such as Bashir Laalaj and Bouchaib El Bidaoui.
Ba Azizi later captivated television audiences with his comedic prowess and distinctive attire—a red tarbouche hat paired with a crisp white djellaba robe. His performances consistently elicited laughter and stirred nostalgia for Morocco's traditional roots.
As news of his passing reverberated, tributes poured in from fans and fellow members of the entertainment industry. Rachid El Ouali, a fellow actor, remarked, "Morocco has lost one of its most legendary artistic figures."
Over a span of more than 60 years, Oujou's memorable portrayals and characters, notably the iconic role of "Ba Azizi," have left an indelible mark on Moroccan pop culture. Although he may no longer be with us, his comedic talent and embodiment of traditional persona will be cherished by generations to come.
