The national airline Air Burkina has reached a new milestone in consolidating its air transport capacity. An Embraer 190 joined its fleet on Thursday, October 30, 2025, upon arrival at Ouagadougou International Airport. The modern aircraft, well-suited for regional routes, marks a new phase in the company’s recovery strategy.

The event took place in the presence of Émile Zerbo, Minister of State and Minister of Territorial Administration and Mobility, who praised an achievement made possible through “the collective effort of all Burkinabè.” According to him, this acquisition represents more than just an operational boost—it symbolizes the nation’s determination to maintain aeronautical independence despite economic and security challenges.

“This acquisition is the result of the efforts of the Burkinabè people under the leadership of His Excellency Captain Ibrahim Traoré. Air Burkina is back,” declared the minister, emphasizing the patriotic significance of this step.

Émile Zerbo also encouraged the airline’s staff to uphold a high level of discipline and professionalism, reminding them that the survival of Air Burkina depends not only on its equipment but also on the commitment of those who keep it running every day. “Air Burkina has existed since 1967. There is no reason it cannot continue to move forward,” he affirmed, calling on citizens and partners to provide lasting support to the company.

Following the first delivery in September 2024, Air Burkina has now added a second Embraer 190 to its fleet. The aircraft, with a capacity of around 98 passengers, is known for its comfort and reliability. It is expected to significantly improve service quality while strengthening regional air connections.

This acquisition comes as several African airlines are modernizing their fleets to meet the steady growth of air traffic across the continent. For Air Burkina, the goal is clear: to solidify its position in West Africa’s aviation landscape while remaining true to its national identity.
