Air Europa Resumes Flights to Marrakech: A Boost for Tourism

Spanish airline Air Europa is set to reinstate its flights to Marrakech, beginning April 6. This route will operate twice a week, linking Madrid-Barajas Airport with Marrakech, and is expected to offer over 20,000 seats using a Boeing 737 fleet.

In total, Air Europa plans to allocate more than 40,000 seats to North Africa, with 20,000 dedicated to the Madrid-Marrakech route during the summer season. This strategic move is anticipated to significantly bolster Morocco's tourism sector, as the country actively works to attract international visitors.

Last year, Morocco welcomed 17.4 million tourists, surpassing its initial target for 2026. The nation aims to attract 26 million tourists by 2030. As of February, tourism revenues reached MAD 15.75 billion (approximately $1.6 billion), reflecting a growth of 2.8% compared to the previous year. Nearly 2.7 million tourists had visited Morocco by the end of February.

Looking ahead, Morocco is preparing for a surge in tourism, notably with the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) set to take place later this year. The Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) is mobilizing efforts to promote the country as a premier destination for travelers worldwide.
