Al Hoceima, October 26, 2025 — For twelve days, from October 5 to 16, the shores of Al Hoceima pulsed with the rhythm of joint amphibious maneuvers conducted by the Royal Moroccan Navy and the U.S. Marines. The large-scale, high-precision exercise reflected the strength and depth of a strategic military alliance built on decades of mutual trust and shared objectives.

The Royal Armed Forces (FAR) shared an immersive video on their official channels capturing the highlights of the operation, carried out by the 1st Battalion of the Royal Navy and the U.S. FASTEUR unit, specialized in counterterrorism operations. The footage revealed synchronized landings, coordinated tactical movements, and a remarkable display of operational discipline — the outcome of intense joint preparation.

According to Colonel Anwar Bounasser, the exercise represents “a continuation of the close military cooperation between Rabat and Washington.” Its main goal, he explained, is to strengthen “coordination and interoperability between both countries’ forces, particularly between the Royal Navy’s amphibious unit and the U.S. FASTEUR team,” while emphasizing the importance of hands-on training and real-world knowledge exchange.

A High-Intensity Training Program

The joint drills focused on amphibious operation planning, coastal defense, landing tactics, and combat in urban and confined environments — a true laboratory for learning under pressure. Each scenario was designed to test reflexes, discipline, and adaptability.

U.S. Commander Michael Angelo Kozman praised “the outstanding quality of training and professionalism of the Moroccan partners,” noting the high level of realism and seamless coordination that ensured mission success.

In addition to tactical operations, participants attended theoretical sessions on modern armaments, mission safety, and battlefield medical response, co-led by Moroccan and American instructors. Zakaria Kariti, head of training, noted that this mixed approach helped “raise operational performance and strengthen inter-army cohesion.”

A Symbol of Shared Strength

The exercise concluded with a full-scale amphibious operation, capping twelve days of intensive collaboration and mutual skill-building — a symbolic moment that embodied the spirit of cooperation between two militaries united by the same values: discipline, innovation, and operational excellence.

Beyond the military field, these maneuvers underscore the depth of the strategic partnership between Morocco and the United States, rooted in shared regional security interests and mutual confidence. In a global context marked by rising transnational threats, Morocco reaffirms its role as a pillar of stability in North Africa and across the Mediterranean and Atlantic fronts.

Driven by the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco continues to modernize its armed forces and consolidate strategic alliances. The Al Hoceima exercise stands as yet another testament to this vision — a powerful demonstration of efficiency, partnership, and controlled strength.
