Arab nations urge calm following US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites

Several Arab countries expressed deep concern on Sunday, June 22, in response to a U.S. airstrike targeting nuclear facilities in Iran earlier that morning. These nations called for de-escalation and urged all parties to exercise restraint to avoid further deterioration of the situation.

Egypt strongly condemned the rapid escalation and warned of its potentially severe consequences on both regional and global peace. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration emphasized that the only viable path to resolving the crisis lies in political dialogue and diplomacy, rather than military solutions.

Saudi Arabia also voiced serious concern over the developments in Iran and the American strikes on nuclear facilities. It stressed the importance of restraint and de-escalation while calling on the international community to intensify efforts toward reaching a political resolution that ensures long-term peace and stability in the region.

The United Arab Emirates echoed similar sentiments, expressing deep worry over the continued tensions and the attack on Iranian nuclear infrastructure. The UAE called for an immediate halt to all forms of escalation to avoid severe repercussions and increased instability. It underlined the need for diplomatic dialogue within a comprehensive framework that promotes peace, prosperity, and justice, and urged the international community to work collectively toward a peaceful resolution.

Qatar expressed regret over the deterioration of the situation, emphasizing the urgency of halting military operations and resuming dialogue and diplomatic processes to address ongoing disputes. Its Foreign Ministry warned that the current dangerous tensions could lead to catastrophic consequences regionally and internationally. Qatar appealed for wisdom and restraint from all sides, urging avoidance of any further escalation, particularly given the already devastating humanitarian toll of existing conflicts.

Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry also issued a statement expressing serious concern about the recent events in Iran, especially the targeting of nuclear sites, describing it as a dangerous development that threatens both regional and global security. Kuwait called for the complete and immediate cessation of military actions and escalation, advocating for dialogue and diplomatic efforts to achieve peace and stability.

In Oman, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the aerial bombardment carried out by the United States, labeling it an unlawful act and urging immediate and comprehensive de-escalation.

In Lebanon, President Joseph Aoun warned that the recent escalation, particularly the airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, may increase the risk of widespread regional instability. He stressed the importance of restraint and the need for serious negotiations to restore stability, warning that continued conflict could lead to prolonged suffering and destruction.

Iraq also condemned the attack on Iran’s nuclear sites, describing the military escalation as a grave threat to peace in the Middle East and a danger to regional stability.
