Bensaid represents HM King Mohammed VI at Grand Egyptian Museum opening
Moroccan Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, attended the opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo on Saturday, representing His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
The event, celebrating the launch of the world’s largest museum dedicated to a single civilization, hosted 79 official delegations, including 39 headed by kings, princes, and heads of state and government.
Spanning nearly 500,000 square meters, the museum showcases over 100,000 archaeological pieces, tracing the history of Egyptian civilization across thirty dynasties over 5,000 years.
Designed as a natural continuation of the former Egyptian Museum at Tahrir Square, the new museum incorporates modern exhibition techniques, including advanced lighting, interactive displays, and digital tools, offering visitors an immersive educational experience.
