Casablanca port projects strengthen Morocco’s regional role
Major port investments launched under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI are reinforcing Morocco’s position as a rising regional power, according to French geopolitics expert Frédéric Encel.
Speaking about the restructuring of Casablanca’s Port Complex, inaugurated on Thursday, Encel praised what he described as “a highly astute strategy at the highest level of the State,” stressing that the future of global trade lies in the seas and oceans.
With a budget of 5 billion dirhams, the ambitious project includes a modernized fishing port, a new shipyard, a cruise terminal, and a unified administrative complex. Developed by the National Ports Agency, these facilities aim to boost Casablanca’s economic and touristic appeal.
The initiative positions Morocco’s largest city to become not only a hub of international maritime commerce but also a leading African and global financial center.
