Fez-Meknes secures vice-presidency in African-Francophone business alliance
Hamza Benabdellah, president of the Fez-Meknes Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services (CCIS), has been elected vice-president of the Permanent Conference of African and Francophone Consular Chambers (CPCCAF). The announcement came during the organization’s 49th General Assembly, held in Fez, which coincided with the 5th Fez-Meknes Economic Forum.
This marks the first time the Fez-Meknes CCIS has attained such a prominent leadership role within CPCCAF, reflecting Morocco’s growing influence in regional economic diplomacy. Benabdellah emphasized that the election highlights the chamber’s success in fostering economic partnerships and strengthening ties across Africa and the Francophone world.
“This is a testament to the work we’ve done to strengthen economic diplomacy and build lasting international partnerships,” he stated, adding that the new position will enhance the visibility and influence of Fez-Meknes at both continental and Francophone levels.
The general assembly also elected Youssouf Moussa Dawaleh, president of the Chamber of Commerce of Djibouti, as CPCCAF’s new president. Dawaleh succeeds Christophe Eken of Cameroon and expressed his gratitude for being elected in Fez, a city he praised for its rich cultural heritage and economic significance. He also commended Morocco for its hospitality and the seamless organization of the event.
Established in 1973 in Dakar, CPCCAF unites chambers of commerce from 24 Francophone countries, representing over eight million businesses. The organization plays a crucial role in supporting local enterprises, strengthening institutional capacity, and promoting sustainable and inclusive development across Africa and the Francophone world.
The election of Benabdellah to the vice-presidency is seen as a significant milestone for Fez-Meknes, positioning the region as a key player in driving economic collaboration within CPCCAF’s influential network.
