France Reinforces Commitment to Economic Partnership with Morocco
In a significant announcement during his visit to Rabat, French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized the continuation of public investments in Morocco, including the Sahara region. Speaking at the conclusion of the "Morocco-France Entrepreneurial Meeting," Macron highlighted Morocco's status as the primary client of the French Development Agency (AFD) in terms of investments. He assured attendees that the AFD would persist in financing projects across the Kingdom, particularly those initiated by French companies in the Sahara.
Macron articulated a vision for a fair and mutually beneficial economic partnership between France and Morocco, acknowledging the numerous synergies between the two nations' economies. He underscored the existing industrial collaboration across various sectors and called for enhanced integration of value chains, especially in light of the current trend of "re-regionalization of tariffs."
Additionally, Macron expressed concern over the departure of European and French financial groups from Africa, attributing this to self-imposed regulatory rules. He described this trend as a "terrible strategic error," urging European leaders to reconsider the regulations affecting their institutions.
This meeting, co-organized by the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) and the Movement of French Enterprises (MEDEF), holds particular significance amid Macron's state visit, which was extended at the invitation of King Mohammed VI.
The discussions reflect a broader commitment to strengthening economic ties and addressing shared challenges, paving the way for future collaboration between the two nations.
