German authorities announced on Friday the dismantling of a large-scale drug trafficking network operating on the darknet, near the German-Dutch border. The operation, led by the Central Cybercrime Unit of North Rhine-Westphalia in cooperation with the Cologne prosecutor’s office, resulted in several arrests and significant seizures.

According to investigators, the suspects — three men aged 33, 39, and 40 — are accused of selling large quantities of ecstasy and cocaine via online platforms and shipping them through postal services within Germany. To conceal their activities, they allegedly used multiple mailboxes located near the border.

Two of the suspects, who were wanted under international arrest warrants, were apprehended in Heerlen, in the Netherlands. One has already been extradited to Germany, while the other remains in Dutch custody awaiting transfer.

During previous searches, police raided three residences and a boxing club, seizing data storage devices, electronic equipment, firearms, and cash worth several million euros. The materials are now being analyzed.

The operation mobilized 45 officers and represents another step in Germany’s efforts to combat cyber-enabled organized crime and cross-border narcotics trafficking.
