Germany: Herdecke mayor allegedly attacked by her adopted daughter
Herdecke, Germany — A week after the assault on Iris Stalzer, the 57-year-old mayor of Herdecke (North Rhine-Westphalia), investigations suggest that her 17-year-old adopted daughter is the main suspect.
The mayor was found seriously injured and covered in blood at her home on October 7, 2025, after receiving multiple stab wounds. Initially, her daughter claimed to emergency responders that the attack occurred outside the home during an attempted robbery, and that her mother had managed to drag herself inside. However, authorities now believe the adolescent attacked her mother for several hours inside the house. Iris Stalzer is reported to be out of danger.
