Hakimi leads race for best African player in Ligue 1
Achraf Hakimi is emerging as a strong contender for the 2024/25 Marc-Vivien Foe Award, given to the top African footballer in France’s Ligue 1. The Paris Saint-Germain right-back has been instrumental in his team's domestic success and their impressive run to the Champions League semi-finals.
With four goals and eight assists in the league, Hakimi has played a crucial role in securing PSG's title with games to spare. Across all competitions, he has made 44 appearances, netting six goals and providing 14 assists, showcasing his dynamic style and importance to Luis Enrique’s lineup.
Another Moroccan player, lyes Ben Seghir of Monaco, also made the final shortlist of 12 nominees. If Hakimi secures the accolade, he would become the first Moroccan to receive this prestigious honor. The winner will be announced on May 12, 2025, chosen by a panel of French football journalists.
