Humanitarian initiative launched for Palestinian children in Gaza
The Bayt Mal Al-Qods Acharif Agency, based in Rabat, has launched a new humanitarian initiative aimed at supporting Palestinian children, particularly orphans and amputees in Gaza. This initiative was announced during an informational meeting attended by various dignitaries, including the Palestinian Minister of Social Development, Samah Hamad, who joined the event via videoconference. Other participants included Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, director of the Bayt Mal Al-Qods Acharif Agency, Mohamed Jamal Bouzidi, president of the Moroccan Association for the Reconstruction of Palestine, Jamal Choubki, the Palestinian ambassador to Morocco, as well as representatives from the Arab diplomatic corps in Rabat.
The initiative targets 300 Palestinian children who have lost limbs out of 800 registered with the Palestinian Ministry of Health. It also aims to assist 500 orphaned children as part of the "Maqdessi Orphan Care" project, which was launched in 2008. Additionally, the program will set up a psychological clinic to provide support to the children on the Agency's lists, with volunteers from both Moroccan and Palestinian specialists.
This urgent humanitarian initiative reflects the Kingdom of Morocco's ongoing commitment to supporting Palestinians in Al-Quds and Gaza under the direct guidance of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, President of the Al-Quds Committee.
During the event, Cherkaoui and Bouzidi signed an agreement in which the Moroccan Association for the Reconstruction of Palestine allocated three million dirhams to the Bayt Mal Al-Qods Acharif Agency to support the implementation of this initiative.
Cherkaoui emphasized that Morocco remains steadfast in its support for the Palestinian cause, advocating for it at political, diplomatic, and social levels. This initiative is part of Morocco’s ongoing efforts to assist Gaza, including a Royal humanitarian mission that delivered 230 tons of food and water, along with 40 tons of medical supplies to Gaza’s hospitals.
Cherkaoui also highlighted that the Bayt Mal Al-Qods Acharif Agency had carried out multiple humanitarian efforts during the holy month of Ramadan, delivering 3,300 food baskets, 30,000 hot meals daily, as well as 4 tons of medicines, medical equipment, blankets, and 50 medical kits. Furthermore, equipment was provided to the emergency coordination unit at the Al Hilal Al Qods hospital.
The Palestinian ambassador in Rabat praised the agency's efforts, which, under the high instructions of King Mohammed VI, are easing the suffering of the people of Al-Quds and strengthening the resilience of the Palestinians in Gaza.
Bouzidi expressed pride in seeing his association contribute to this noble cause for the children of Gaza, emphasizing that the association’s involvement in numerous projects in Al-Quds, the West Bank, and Gaza sends a powerful message of support from Moroccan civil society to the Palestinian cause.
