ICESCO director general commends royal initiatives in social welfare
The Director General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), Salim Bin Mohammed Al-Malik, praised the numerous initiatives launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI in the social sector. Speaking at the opening of the International Parliamentary Forum on Social Justice in Rabat, Al-Malik emphasized that Morocco stands as a "shining model of stability, unity, and cohesion," highlighting the King’s visionary approach to social justice.
Al-Malik noted that ICESCO actively monitors efforts within member states and benefits from successful experiences to strengthen equality. He stressed the fundamental role of social justice in national policies, viewing it as a collective responsibility shared by all stakeholders. The regular organization of such forums, he added, reinforces the credibility of these efforts and underscores a shared commitment to social responsibility.
He also emphasized that social justice remains a key priority for public policies, advocating for more equitable development strategies inspired by Islamic values of mutual aid and solidarity with vulnerable groups. This year’s forum, held in partnership with the Economic, Social, and Environmental Council (CESE), focuses on the theme "Universalizing Social Protection in Morocco: A Development Vision Aligned with International Standards."
The Forum’s discussions are centered around two main sessions: "The General Framework of Morocco’s Social Protection System and the Challenges of Aligning National Legislation with International Standards," and "The Socio-Economic Impacts of Universalizing Social Protection and the Challenges of Efficiency and Sustainability in Light of Comparative Practices."
