Imad Ghammad appointed CEO of Cosumar, succeeding Hassan Mounir
Cosumar, Morocco’s leading sugar operator, has appointed Imad Ghammad as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), succeeding Hassan Mounir, who is stepping down due to health reasons. The decision was finalized during a Board of Directors meeting chaired by Hicham Belmrah.
The Board expressed its gratitude to Hassan Mounir for his four decades of exceptional service to Cosumar and the Moroccan sugar industry. Recognizing his contributions, the Board also expressed hope that Mounir will continue to advise the company in the future.
A journey of leadership within Cosumar
Imad Ghammad has been a key figure at Cosumar since joining the company in 2006. Over the years, he has held several strategic roles, starting as Risk Management Manager until 2010. He then became a member of the Management Committee, serving as Director of Purchasing, Supply Chain, and Trading. In 2023, he was promoted to Deputy CEO, a role in which he played a pivotal part in managing transformation projects within the company.
Ghammad’s expertise has been instrumental in the company’s growth and innovation, particularly in optimizing operations across its supply chain and leading major strategic initiatives.
Educational and professional background
Ghammad brings a solid academic foundation and extensive industry experience to his new role. He earned a degree in Materials Engineering from Université Paris 13 (1997-2000) and later specialized in elastomers and plastomers at Esica École Supérieure des Industries du Caoutchouc (2000-2001). He furthered his education with a master’s degree in Audit, Management Control, and Global Risk Management at INSEEC in 2005-2006.
Before joining Cosumar, Ghammad worked at EFJM from 2001 to 2005, focusing on research, development, and innovation.

The company manages the entire sugar value chain, from sourcing raw materials to production and distribution, and operates in five agricultural regions as well as Casablanca. The company has received accolades for its role as an agricultural aggregator by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
