Washington, November 4, 2025 — Following the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2797 on the Sahara, the United States is set to take a new step in supporting the resolution of the conflict. Massad Boulos, Special Adviser to President Donald Trump for Africa, revealed that the four parties—Morocco, Algeria, Mauritania, and the Polisario Front—are invited to begin negotiation rounds in the U.S. in the coming months.

“The President encourages all four parties to engage in unconditional negotiations to reach a solution satisfying all sides

The U.S. has officially offered to host the talks, which could facilitate the political process, especially with Algeria’s participation, a key factor for the initiative’s success. Previous talks between 2018 and 2019 had ended abruptly, with Algeria subsequently refusing further direct negotiations except between Morocco and the Polisario.

Boulos added that the next stage will align with HM King Mohammed VI’s October 31 speech, detailing the Moroccan autonomy proposal for subsequent submission to the UN. He emphasized the U.S. supports autonomy while noting that the new resolution differs slightly from the American position but allows proposals from the parties within the framework of autonomy.

Boulos concluded by highlighting the importance of the wisdom of HM King Mohammed VI, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and the Algerian people in ensuring a constructive dialogue between the nations.
