Morocco advances sustainable industry and low carbon transition
The Ritz-Carlton in Rabat will host the REACT Sustainable Industry Forum Meeting under the joint patronage of Morocco’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, and Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation. This event reflects the strategic vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, emphasizing innovation, environmental responsibility, and national energy independence as key pillars of the country’s development path.
The forum supports the National Strategy for Sustainable Development (SNDD), which aims to cut Morocco’s greenhouse gas emissions by 45.5% by 2030 and raise the contribution of renewable sources to 52% of the electricity mix. These objectives highlight Morocco’s leadership in Africa’s transition to a low-carbon economy.
Amid tightening environmental regulations and shifting global trade dynamics, Morocco must address several critical priorities: preserving the competitiveness of its exports, promoting a sustainable industrial model, and reinforcing its energy self-reliance. The industrial sector, which generates nearly 20% of national CO₂ emissions and contributes about a quarter of GDP, is a central focus of these efforts.
The REACT forum serves as a collaborative space where businesses, research institutions, startups, and financial actors can engage in meaningful dialogue, share case studies, and co-create innovative, circular, and resource-efficient industrial solutions.
