This prestigious accolade was bestowed upon the North African nation at the European Convention of the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) held in Malaga, Spain, on Tuesday.
The victory is a testament to the concerted efforts of the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation (FRMG) and the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), whose collaborative endeavors have propelled the kingdom to the forefront of world-class golfing destinations.
The IAGTO convention, a gathering of industry titans, drew over 750 delegates from across Europe and beyond. Golf course operators, resort owners, travel agencies, and esteemed leaders convened over two days to forge partnerships and explore innovative avenues within the flourishing golf tourism sector.
Moroccan operators, specializing in golf, resorts, and hospitality, seized the opportunity to showcase the kingdom's unparalleled golfing offerings, captivating the attendees with their exceptional expertise.
Morocco's coronation as the Best African Golf Tourism Destination for 2024 was the culmination of a rigorous evaluation process, wherein 660 golf tour operators cast their votes based on the country's performance in the first quarter of the year and the exceptional satisfaction levels of their discerning clientele.
For the ONMT, golf serves as a catalyst for tourism development, solidifying Morocco's position as a prestigious golfing haven. The organization's audacious partnership with the streaming giant Netflix, branded "Morocco, Land of Light," exemplifies the innovative strategies employed to elevate the kingdom's global profile.
This collaboration encompasses a myriad of actions, including an initial integration of the Morocco brand into the highly anticipated Netflix Cup, slated for November 14-15, 2023. This groundbreaking event marks Netflix's foray into live sporting events, featuring a captivating fusion of Formula 1 drivers and PGA tour professionals.
Held at the prestigious Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas, the competition will witness sports icons forming six duos, competing in a thrilling spectacle during the kick-off of the most anticipated event of the season, "The F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix."
