Morocco dominates Arab cross-country championships with 16-medal haul
The Moroccan national team emerged victorious at the 27th Arab Cross-Country Championships held Saturday at the Dead Sea in Jordan, securing an impressive total of 16 medals - seven gold, five silver, and four bronze.
The gold medals were clinched across multiple categories: Hasnae Sadik in the 4km female cadets race, Saida El Bouzi in the 6km junior women's event, and Oussama Redouani in the 8km junior men's competition. The national team also secured team gold medals in the junior women's 6km, male cadets 6km, female cadets 4km, and junior men's 8km events.
Silver medals were earned by Sara Zahir in the 6km junior women's race, Mohammed El Mselet in the 8km junior men's event, and El Mustapha Akkaoui in the 10km senior men's competition. The senior men's and women's teams also secured silver medals in their respective 10km team events.
Bronze medalists included Houssna Ben Abdelmoati in the 6km junior women's race, Ayoub Ziani in the 6km junior men's event, Fatima Zahra Kabel in the 4km female cadets competition, and Yahya Loudad in the 6km male cadets race.
The Moroccan delegation consisted of 36 athletes, with an equal representation of 18 men and 18 women. The championships, organized by the Arab Athletics Union, brought together approximately 240 athletes from 13 nations, including host country Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Algeria, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Syria, Lebanon, Sudan, Libya, and Yemen.
