Morocco Lauds UN's Recognition of Palestinian Statehood
In a significant stride towards Palestinian self-determination, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution supporting the admission of the State of Palestine as a full member of the esteemed international body. Morocco, a longstanding advocate for Palestinian rights, has warmly welcomed this momentous decision, as announced by the Kingdom's Permanent Mission to the UN through a post on X (formerly Twitter).
As one of the early co-sponsors of this resolution, Morocco's backing underscores its unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause. The resolution confers upon the State of Palestine additional privileges and prerogatives within various organs of the United Nations, paving the way for enhanced participation and representation.
Furthermore, the text calls upon the UN Security Council to favorably reconsider the admission of the State of Palestine as a full-fledged member of the United Nations, a move that would grant the Palestinian people a well-deserved voice on the global stage.
Morocco, whose Sovereign, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, presides over the Al-Quds Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, has reiterated its steadfast support for the two-state solution. As it has consistently done, the Kingdom vows to continue advocating for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The Permanent Mission of the Kingdom to the UN has underscored Morocco's resolute stance, emphasizing the nation's unwavering commitment to the realization of Palestinian statehood and self-determination. This latest development at the United Nations represents a significant step forward in the ongoing quest for a just and lasting resolution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
