Morocco Leads Africa in ICT Development Index
In the realm of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) development, Morocco has ascended to the summit of African rankings, solidifying its position as a frontrunner on the continent. The latest report from the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), titled "Measuring Digital Development: the 2023 ICT Development Index," reveals that Morocco has achieved an impressive score of 85.1, surpassing both the global average of 72.8 and the African average of 47.4.
Morocco outshines the global average of 70.5% in a key indicator, the "Individuals using the Internet" category, boasting an exceptional rate of 92.8%. Furthermore, the nation's performance in the criteria of "Households with internet access at home" and "3G/4G coverage" is equally commendable. While the global averages for these measures stand at 70.8% and 92.5%, respectively, Morocco has attained rates of 90.7% and an impressive 99.2%, solidifying its strong position in the ICT landscape.
