Morocco's airport authority embarks on leadership overhaul to fuel "Airports 2030" vision
Morocco's National Airport Authority (ONDA) has initiated a strategic restructuring of its leadership to propel its ambitious "Airports 2030" plan, aimed at modernizing the nation’s airport infrastructure to meet international standards.
Leadership restructuring to drive transformation
ONDA has reorganized its three primary divisions, introducing interim appointments and opening applications for new leadership roles in its "Air Navigation" and "Airport Operations" departments. This effort seeks to retain institutional expertise while inviting fresh talent to accelerate the implementation of its vision.
Two interim directors, both seasoned professionals with substantial contributions to ONDA's development, will now focus on strategic projects, reporting directly to the General Director. Simultaneously, the authority’s commercial division has recently welcomed a new director tasked with bolstering economic performance, fostering strategic partnerships, and reimagining airports as multi-functional hubs.
"Airports 2030" strategy in focus
The restructuring is a key step in advancing the "Airports 2030" strategy, a transformative initiative designed to enhance operational efficiency and prepare Morocco’s airports for future challenges. ONDA emphasizes human capital as a cornerstone of this transformation, prioritizing skill development, continuous training, and management innovation to deliver world-class services.
The Ministry of Transport and Logistics has also unveiled plans to expand the nation’s airport capacity from 30 million to 80 million passengers by 2030, aligning with Morocco's growing global ambitions. This includes preparations for hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will co-host with Spain and Portugal.
As ONDA redefines its organizational framework, it demonstrates a clear commitment to building sustainable, modern airport infrastructure that meets international benchmarks and supports Morocco's economic and tourism goals.
