New pension scheme and contribution refunds for retirees
The Caisse Nationale de Sécurité Sociale (CNSS) has announced the implementation of the retirement pension and contribution refunds starting from May 1, 2025, with retroactive effect from the retirement date. According to the provisions of decree 2.25.265, individuals who retire between January 1, 2023, and the date the law 02.24 becomes effective, and who have accumulated between 1320 and 3240 days of contributions, will be eligible for the pension, retroactively from their retirement date.
The CNSS clarified that the minimum pension amount will depend on the total number of contribution days. The pension will range from 600 to 1000 dirhams and will also include coverage for Mandatory Health Insurance (AMO).
In case of death of an insured individual who has accumulated at least 1320 days of contributions, their beneficiaries will be entitled to a survivor’s pension.
If the individual does not meet the required minimum contribution days (1320), they or their beneficiaries (in case of death) can request a refund of both their contributions and those of their employer, in accordance with the applicable legal provisions.
Starting from May 1, 2025, affected individuals can submit their requests via the "TAAWYDATI" portal or at their nearest CNSS office.
Additionally, in accordance with decree 2.25.266, to ensure year-round social and medical coverage for fishermen and their beneficiaries, the criteria and calculation methods for their contribution days, as well as the redistribution of fishing vessel income, will be defined by a decision from the Minister of Economy and Finance.
To recall, the government council approved on April 3 the decrees 2.25.265 related to the pension and contribution refunds, and 2.25.266 concerning the smoothing of income for fishermen.
