Protests by “GenZ212” collective: AMDH denounces multiple arrests
The Moroccan Association for Human Rights (AMDH) condemned on Saturday, September 27, 2025, the arrest of several people following demonstrations organized by the collective known as “GenZ212.”
According to AMDH, dozens of young protesters were detained during rallies calling for “reform of the education system and improvements in public healthcare.” The protests took place in Rabat and other cities.
In front of Parliament in Rabat, security forces prevented youths from gathering for an initial protest organized by “GenZ212,” whose founders remain unknown. Authorities also banned another demonstration planned near the site against a proposed university reform.
“We observed the arrest of more than 70 people during the two sit-ins,” said Hakim Sikouk, president of AMDH’s Rabat section, speaking to AFP. He added that most were gradually released after their identities were checked.
The association also reported ongoing arrests of its activists in several cities, stressing solidarity with those detained and demanding their “immediate and unconditional release.”
